Position Type: Full-time position as a firefighter-entry level

Pay: Starting pay is $46,841.71 (state incentive included) with insurance and benefit package

UP to 57,422.51 with Required Driver Operator IFSAC certifications and Swiftwater Technician certification

 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Respond to fire, accident, rescue, hazardous materials, natural disaster and some medical calls

Use various manual and power tools in performing firefighting and rescue work

Operate, test, and maintain equipment, vehicles, and facilities

Perform related work and other duties as assigned

Maintain training requirements and perform training activities

Job Requirements:

13-week fire academy training for non-certified firefighters upon employment

IFSAC certifications for FF1, FF2, HMA, HMO required within 12 months of employment

 

Minimum Requirements:

Valid KY Driver’s License

Minimum 18 years of age

High School Diploma or GED

Valid CPAT card by date of hire

Past employment, driving, and criminal background checks

Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, as well as random testing

About us: Franklin-Simpson Fire Rescue (FSFR) is a small combination department in Simpson County KY. FSFR covers approximately 240 square miles that encompasses the entirety of Simpson County including the City of Franklin. Our population is approximately 20,000 people. The area is largely agriculture but has sprawling residential areas and manufacturing parks along with 14 miles of Interstate 65. FSFR is a combination department working on a 24/48 work shift. There will be 3 full-time firefighters on shift daily supplemented with 1 on-call personnel responding second out. The Chief and Deputy Chief will work a M-F daytime shift. Plans are being developed to fund additional full-time firefighters.
